Welcome to New Horizons Federation.

As a Federation of two SEMH schools and a Pupil Referral Service, we provide high quality education for children and young people who are unable to attend mainstream schools because of their complex behaviour, anxieties or medical needs, either on a time-limited respite basis or longer term through the Education Health Care Plan process or partnership agreement with mainstream schools.

We are able to provide a permanent educational placement for pupils identified as having needs through an EHC Plan which can be best met in our specialist SEMH schools, Oakwood and Westbrooke, as well as offering alternatives to permanent exclusion for Key Stage 4 students, preventative in school and off –site specifically tailored programmes for students at risk of exclusion and bespoke reintegration support packages for students returning to school.  Our Federation also includes a specialist medical needs centre where students are supported back into education through multi-agency personalised plans. We are able to support our students to become successful and independent young people by offering flexible, personalised education, taught in small groups by highly skilled staff.

The Federation has an overarching Governing Body chaired by Corinne Botten and an Executive Head Teacher – Jo Southby, with responsibility for leading the overall strategic direction of the schools and associated services and ensuring that a consistently high standard of education takes place for all students.

The day to day running of each school or programme is managed by a Head of School or Head of Service who ensures that each student receives excellent care, guidance and support to achieve their best.

The Federation structure is designed to promote consistency, the development of innovative solutions to inclusion and to enable the sharing of good practice across the different key stages and cohorts. Staff and students in each school or programme therefore belong to a wider community which promotes high expectations, aspirational goals and inclusion in the widest sense.
